Ronnie  Lott

 

Hip Hop artist/ singer songwriter and producer Ronnie Lott (April 4, 1992), better known as Rated R, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. His Love for music was expressed at the early age of three when he picked up his first drumsticks and began banging on the set. By age 13 Ronnie had formerly been taught piano, and was using his acquired drumming skills in the middle school drum line and playing in church. Balancing both music and sports, Ronnie found that pursuing basketball at the collegiate level was promising, and devoted much of his time pursuing that goal, and put his love for music on the back burner. But like all first loves he could not forget about music. 
Ronnie found that he had the creativity for producing/songwriting, and began producing music in his dorm room at Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK). In 2010 Ronnie decided that he would pursue music full time as a producer/songwriter and began producing music for local artists in San Antonio, Austin and Killeen. As he obtained a buzz locally as a producer, he decided that he would create a sound for himself, and not only produce music, but also become a solo artist. In 2011 Ronnie took on the name Rated R and dropped his all original debut album entitled “City Lights,” that he wrote and produced. The album was a success and got the attention of several radio personalities, dj’s, and club promoters. In 2012 he joined the ranks of Careless With Cash, (CWC), as a producer while continuing to develop his sound and make progress on his sophomore effort entitled “City Nights,” which he dropped later that year.  
Despite the Buzz that both albums were creating, Ronnie decided that it was time to captivate the unique sound that he had invented. With the help of several trusted individuals New Wave International was born, giving a name to the stylistic sounds and combination of old school funk, Electronica, R&B and Hip Hop. With catchy phrases, lyrical delivery and meticulous engineering, songs like “Drunk Texting,” “Black Diamonds,” “Slip Away,” and “Ambition II” headlined Rated R’s third studio album and first under the New Wave Collaborative entitled “Paradise.”  
Rated is currently in the Studio writing and producing his second New Wave album entitled “It's Just Different,” which dropped on February 20th 2015. Also, in December of 2014 & May of 2015,Rated released two of a four part mix-tape series titled East & East ll. East ll is critically acclaimed for the way Rated orchestrated his sound with teaming up with up and coming producers such as J Nice & an established label producer from TDE(Top Dawg Entertainment) with the likes of Willie B giving him that industry feel to his development as an artist. Look for a documentary about Ronnie Lott's journey to be released in the fall of 2016.
